The game often gets broken down into two components: game knowledge and mechanical skill. These are great general categories, but many important skills fall into one, both or neither.
Kiting – mechanical skill
Powerspikes – game knowledge
Map awareness – both (you need to be able to look at the map often and quickly AND understand it)
Attitude – neither
Improving in any of those skills will have a positive impact on your game – so it‘s not that one or other is more important.
Furthermore, it‘s easier to make huge gains in skills you didn‘t have before and see those gains quickly than perfecting something you are already good at.
Play the other champs - the ones you most commonly play against - and know where their strengths and your strengths are.
For example, Lux has terrible maneuverability without her summoner spells, same as Syndra. Syndra has long cooldowns for her stun and slow when she first gets them. if you can bait those out as Fizz, that puts you in a great position to Urchin Strike in with Trident active, Playful/Trickster out and use your combo with little punishment.
Or, y'know, Playful/Trickster in, Trident / urchin strike, whatever the situation requires. The thing is, Fizz has an escape from level 2/3, which Ahri, Lux, and Syndra don't have. Can't speak for Zed, because I haven't played him.
